
Where Abouts of Religion
The top major religions found around the world include: Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism. Christianity holding about 2.1 billion followers, Islam with about 1.3 billion followers and Hinduism with about 900 million followers. In the image below you can see where these religions and other religions are spread across the world.

One of the more popular religions which is Christianity, has different branches, which all root from Judaism, whose beliefs influenced Christians. You have Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Eastern Roman Orthodox. Christianity however is found in many regions such as North America, South America, the lower half of Africa, because of British rule in the past, Australia, and parts of Europe. The image below shows where the different branches are present in the world.
There are branches in both Buddhism and Islam. Buddhism having about 400 million followers, they believed that life is suffering, but living a properlife, you can achieve enlightenment. Diffusion within Buddhism led to the creation of three branches which were Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. For Islam which has about 1.2 billion followers, they believed in a single all powerful God, and humans are given free will by God, must surrender to his laws. Two main branches include the Sunnis which make up about 90% and the Shi'ites which make up the remainder 10%. You can see the two religions in the image below.
Earlier it was said that since ethnic religions tend to stay close, not looking for converts, where they are distributed is usually easy to spot out. Hinduism being a very popular ethnic religion, this religion is highly clustered in India, which is the birth place of Hinduism also. Mainly in India, it is also known to be one of the oldest religions in the world. Ethnic religions tend to not be highly spread out but rather close.
